ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. –
Rutgers men's tennis alumni Harry Cicma will be inducted into the Greek Sports Hall of Fame on July 25th in Atlantic City. Cicma was recognized for his work in television and media.

Cicma graduated from Rutgers in 2004, playing for the men's tennis team while 'On the Banks'. At RU he also worked at WRSU-FM as well as RUTV.

The Order of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) established the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1975 to honor outstanding Hellenic athletes and sports personages. Cicma will be inducted alongside Mark Philippoussis, a retired tennis player once ranked as high as eighth in the world. Previous inductees include tennis legend Pete Sampras and sportscaster Bob Costas.

"This award is a true honor, and means a great deal to me," Cicma said. "I was inducted into the Classical High School Hall of Fame many years ago, and to be inducted into the Greek Sports Hall of Fame is something that is priceless.  None of this would be possible if it weren't for my experiences at Rutgers University, which gave me an opportunity to shine on the national stage of sports and to have a great career in New York City.  I always dedicate my successes to Rutgers, since it helped me develop into a great Sports Anchor and Executive Producer, and I also credit being Greek American to many of my accomplishments. To join the Hall of Fame with Pete Sampras, Bob Costas, Eric Karros, Harry Agganis, Steve Lappas and many others, is humbling and very special. I am especially honored that Richard Kent, a fellow Scarlet Knight nominated me."

After graduation, Cicma embarked on a professional tennis career before moving into the television side of the business. Currently, he is a sports anchor for NBC. He also served as the host and executive producer of "World Tennis with Harry Cicma" for NESN and has announced tennis for a variety of TV networks. He won an Emmy Award in 2014 with NBC for his on-air reporting during Hurricane Sandy.

"I hope this can help inspire other students at Rutgers to never give up and always go for their dreams," Cicma said. "I cherish the memories of playing top division one tennis for the Scarlet Knights, and training with some of the best athletes in the world during my time on campus. It truly built character, and a strong foundation, while working hard as a member of WRSU 88.7 FM and RUTV."
