PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rutgers tennis started off its fall campaign at the Brown Invitational Sept. 21-23. The invite featured UMass, Stony Brook and host Brown.

"It was a great weekend for us. The ladies brought a terrific amount of focus and energy each match," said head coach
Hilary Ritchie. "Kristiana went 3-0 in singles, while Tess and Kat went 2-1 in doubles, being edged by a great team. There were a lot of positives from the weekend."

Freshman
Kristiana Zahare led the Scarlet Knights with a flawless 3-0 record in singles action, picking up wins over UMass, Stony Brook, and Brown opponents. Junior
Jaci Cochrane, sophomore
Maya Jacobs, and freshman
Sydney Kaplan all followed with 2-1Â marks in singles play.

In doubles action, the duo of junior
Kat Muzik and freshman
Tess Fisher paced the squad with a 2-1 mark. The pair topped opponents from UMass (6-0) and Stony Brook (6-3) before falling in a tight match to Brown (7-6(10-8)).
