Diederichs Named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week

PISCATAWAY – Anna-Maria Diederichs was named the Big Ten Conference Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday after carding a 219 (72-72-75) to place third in the 68-player field at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, played this past weekend at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Diederichs is the first Scarlet Knight freshman to earn women's golfer of the week since RU joined the league in 2014-15.
Diederichs' performance helped Rutgers finish fourth with a 900 (292-295-313) total at the 12-team tournament, its final event of the fall season. She was minus one on both par five and par three holes with nine birdies to lead four Scarlet Knights in the top 25.
After tying for fourth in the 60-player field with a 149 (75-74) at Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, Oct. 8-9 at Sahalee Country Club, Diederichs concluded her fall rookie campaign with consecutive top five finishes. She registered a 75.43 stroke average over 14 rounds in five tournaments.
Rutgers, under the leadership of head coach Kari Williams, completed the fall rated No. 79 nationally with a 299.07 stroke average per Golfstat. The Scarlet Knights placed fourth or better in their final four tournaments.
RU returns to the links for its spring season at the Texas State Invitational, Feb. 10-11.
