PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Twelve former Rutgers football players competed during Week 8 of the 2019 NFL season. Logan Ryan registered a sack and a game-clinching interception of Jameis Winston to help Tennessee to a key divisional victory over Tampa Bay. Mohamed Sanu (New England) and Tyler Kroft (Buffalo) added their first receptions with their respective new teams, while Steve Longa made his 2019 debut for Detroit.
Sanu Makes Patriots Debut
Mohamed Sanu, who was dealt to New England last week, made his Patriot debut in their 27-13 victory over Cleveland on Sunday. Sanu hauled in two receptions, including a 19-yard reception for a first down.
Kroft Records First Receptions with Buffalo
Tyler Kroft recorded his first two receptions with Buffalo after missing the first six weeks recovering from an offseason injury. Kroft hauled in 20-yard and 12-yard catches in the Bills' 31-13 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday. After four productive seasons with Cincinnati to begin his NFL career, Kroft signed a three-year, $18.75 million deal to join Buffalo in 2019.
Longa Signed to Detroit's Active Roster
Steve Longa was signed to Detroit's active roster on Oct. 26 after spending the first seven weeks on the team's practice squad. Longa made his 2019 debut over the weekend and produced two tackles to help the Lions to a 31-26 win over the New York Giants on Sunday.
Interception Production
Former Rutgers defensive backs have had an impressive impact in NFL secondaries, with four Scarlet Knights accounting for 11 interceptions to begin the 2019 season. An RU player has recorded an interception in each of the first eight weeks of the season, as Devin McCourty leads the league with five picks. Logan Ryan (3), Duron Harmon (2) and Jason McCourty (1) have also contributed to the interception total.

Kroft Records First Receptions with Buffalo
Tyler Kroft recorded his first two receptions with Buffalo after missing the first six weeks recovering from an offseason injury. Kroft hauled in 20-yard and 12-yard catches in the Bills' 31-13 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.
