PISCATAWAY – Head Women's Golf Coach Kari Williams announced today that Rikke Nordvik has signed a National Letters of Intent to attend Rutgers University and compete for the Scarlet Knights. A native of Stavanger, Norway, Nordvik boasts a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) of 1094 and a European Golf Ranking (EGR) of 255.
"Rikke works hard in the classroom and out on the golf course, which fits in well with the culture of our program," said head coach Kari Williams. "We look forward to having Rikke join the team 'On the Banks' next summer with the chance to compete for us right away."
A student at Wang Toppidrett Stavanger, Nordvik had eight top-10 finishes over eleven events across Norway and the United Kingdom in the summer of 2019. She won the Srixon Tour 6 at Kjekstad Golf Club in September, carding a 207 (71-68-68). In addition, Nordvik place fourth at the Srixon Nordic Winter Open in February (67-76-78-72), fifth at the Scottish Girls' Open Championship in April (74-73-71) and sixth at the Srixon Tour 5 at Arendal Golf Club in August (74-73-73).
"Rikke posted some impressive rounds over the summer competing against some of the top golfers in Europe and her game is definitely trending in the right direction," added Williams. "We are excited to see her golf continue to develop her at Rutgers."
The Scarlet Knights completed the fall with a program-record Golfstat ranking of 80, while carding a program-best 299.07 scoring average. Rutgers placed fourth or better in four of its five tournaments, including a runner-up performance at the 13-team Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in Kentucky, where the team carded a program-record 281 in its final round.
Rutgers' spring season officially begins at the Texas State Invitational, Feb. 10-11, in San Marcos.
