PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football (2-9, 0-8) dropped its final home game of the season to Michigan State (5-6, 3-5), 27-0, Saturday at SHI Stadium. The contest was presented by Provident Bank.
The Scarlet Knights honored their 13-member senior class in a pregame ceremony. The group included Damon Hayes, Kyle Laporte, Kobe Marfo, Cole Murphy, Jim Onulak, Willington Previlon, Aslan Pugh, Freddie Recio, Austin Rosa, Kamaal Seymour, Manny Taylor, Prince Taylor and Zach Venesky (captain).
Defensively, redshirt freshman Christian Izien and sophomore Tim Barrow led RU with 10 tackles apiece. Barrow also recorded a pass breakup in the end zone that led to an interception by redshirt freshman Deion Jennings. It was one of three stops in the red zone.
Redshirt freshman Johnny Langan picked up 49 rushing yards on offense. On special teams, junior Adam Korsak notched his ninth punt of the season downed inside the 5.
