PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Twelve former Rutgers football players competed during Week 13 of the 2019 NFL season. Sebastian Joseph-Day logged his second sack of the year for the Los Angeles Rams in a 34-7 victory over Arizona, while Logan Ryan recorded his fourth interception, which he returned for 16 yards, to help Tennessee to a 31-17 victory over Indianapolis.
2020 Pro Bowl Voting Now Open
Fans can now vote for their favorite Scarlet Knights for the 2020 Pro Bowl. Eligible players for the fan vote include Sebastian Joseph-Day (Rams), Devin McCourty (Patriots), Jason McCourty (Patriots) and Logan Ryan (Titans).
Logan Ryan continues to put up impressive numbers for Tennessee in 2019. Through 13 games, Ryan is first on the team in interceptions (4), passes defended (21), and forced fumbles (3) and is second in tackles (85) and sacks (3.5). Ryan has logged eight or more tackles in seven games this season, including his season-high 13 stops against Kansas City in Week 11.
Defensive Back Production
Former Rutgers defensive backs have had an impressive impact in NFL secondaries, with four Scarlet Knights accounting for 12 interceptions during the 2019 season. An RU player has recorded an interception in nine of the first 12 weeks of the season, as Devin McCourty co-leads the league with five picks. Logan Ryan (4), Duron Harmon (2) and Jason McCourty (1) have also contributed to the interception total.
In addition to interceptions, Scarlet Knights have also combined for 50 passes defended through 13 games. Ryan leads the league with 21 passes defended, while Devin McCourty (12), Jason McCourty (7), Duron Harmon (6) and Blessuan Austin (4) have all batted down passes in 2019.
Scarlet Knight Touchdown Tracker
Gus Edwards and Mohamed Sanu have each produced two touchdowns this season. Sanu has hauled in touchdown receptions for both Atlanta and New England, while Edwards has muscled two rushing scores in 2019. The longest touchdown belongs to Edwards, who ran 63 yards into the end zone during Baltimore's Week 11 victory over Houston.
