PISCATAWAY, N.J.  – Rutgers tennis welcomes the potential of live streaming and performance analytic technology through the PlaySight system. The East Brunswick Racquet club, home to the Scarlet Knights' indoor matches, will transform its six courts into PlaySight SmartCourts.
Â
"Adding PlaySight to our indoor facility will benefit our program in numerous ways," said head coach
Hilary Ritchie. "Players learn so much by watching themselves on the court. Not only will this allow us to utilize practice and match film, but our fans and supporters can stream each match for free."
Â
A PlaySight SmartCourt is a system of high-performance HD cameras, which allows college tennis teams to enjoy unlimited live streaming, recording, and coaching tools for practice and matches.
Â
Every SmartCourt is connected to the PlaySight cloud, which allows access for coaches and student-athletes to view highlight clips and annotated videos to show progress and improvement immediately from laptops, tablets and mobile phones.
Â
Additionally, fans will have the added benefit of live streaming the matches to enhance the following of live results from the contests.
Â
The initial startup of this system was made possible by a USTA Grant and support from donors. To ensure the continuation of use, as well as the extension of additional features, the program continues to welcome donations to reach their goal for full use of all the system has to offer.
Â
An example of additional features that can be added include live scoring integrated into the PlaySight feed, match analytics, and more.Â
Â
With the addition of PlaySight, Rutgers will join over 60+ NCAA tennis programs, including seven fellow Big Ten peers utilizing the system. The access to performance analytics and reviews will aid the Scarlet Knights in the pursuit of excellence and position them for success in competing for championships.
