Men's Golf Wraps Up Play at Redhawk Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Rutgers men's golf finished play at the Redhawk Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington. The Scarlet Knights placed 17th with an 865 (281-288-296), as sophomore Christopher Gotterup led the way for the program with his tied-for-37th result.
Gotterup carded a one-over-par 72 in the final round, as he finished with a three-round even scorecard of 213 (70-71-72). The CBA product combined for 10 birdies and an eagle during his 54-holes of play from Monday and Tuesday en route to his fifth top individual program finish of the 2018-19 season.
After he produced a team-low two-under-par 69 in the opening round, classmate Oliver Whatley tied for 65th with a 218 (69-73-76). In Whatley's first round, the Maryland native carded three birdies and 14 pars.
Junior Tony Jiang, sophomore Bobby Weise and rookie Shayler Dance round out the team scorecard tied for 69th, tied for 77th and tied for 86th, respectively.
UCLA secured the team title with a 37-under-par 815 (269-268-278), followed by Fresno State and Oregon State. UCLA's Hidetoshi Yoshihara captured the individual title with his 13-under-par 200 (67-62-71).
Rutgers returns to the links from April 13-14 at the Rutherford, hosted by Penn State, in State College.
