Apr 02 | Men's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers junior attackman Kieran Mullins earned national recognition Tuesday, as he was named to the USILA Team of the Week. Mullins had a game-high eight points in the win at No. 4 Ohio State Sunday, scoring four goals and assisting on four others as the Scarlet Knights dealt the Buckeyes their first loss of the season.
Mullins notched his second game this year with at least eight points. He previously had totaled nine points on six goals and three assists in a win at St. John's, after which he also earned national recognition as the US Lacrosse Player of the Week.
In just eight games played this year, the Islip, N.Y. native has scored 21 goals and added 24 assists. The team captain is fourth in the nation in points per game (5.63) and fifth in the country in assists per game (3.0).
"We were moving the ball well and playing within ourselves. We played well as a unit today, and that's' what put us on top," Mullins said following the win. "We've been talking all week about finishing the game. We were focused the whole time. We were disciplined and that helped us. This was a great win for us, but we have to keep it going now next week."
