WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. – Rutgers tennis faced Purdue for its season finale on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a close 5-2 match. The Boilermakers claimed the doubles point and four singles matches to edge the Scarlet Knights.

"Of course we are disappointed that we couldn't win," said Head Coach
Hilary Ritchie. "However, we have a young team with some incredible fight and talent. I'm encouraged by some of our individual statistics and excited to continue working with this whole group."
The Scarlet Knights return the full roster for the 2019-20 season, mixing verteran experience with fresh talent.Â
DOUBLES PLAY
Purdue used wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take the team doubles point. At the No. 3 spot, freshman
Kristiana Zahare and junior
Jaci Cochrane were in a tight 6-5 contest before the Boilermakers closed out the win.

SINGLES PLAY
In singles action, freshman
Sydney Kaplan and junior
Kat Muzik added their second wins of the weekend.Â

Kaplan recorded a dominant 6-1, 6-4 win at the No. 4 spot over Purdue's Amina Mukhametshina. It marked her fifth conference singles win of the year and team-leading 12th of the season.

At the No. 3 spot, Muzik earned a 7-6(5-7), 6-0 victory over the Boilermakers' Seira Shimizu. It was her fourth league with of the year and 11th singles win of the year.
