Iyanla Kollock, Ajae Alvarz-Tyler, Reanda Richards and Jenna Sobieski Set New Scarlet Knight Benchmark
PHILADELPHIA – The Rutgers Sprint Medley Relay team of freshmen Iyanla Kollock, Ajae Alvarez-Tyler and Reanda Richards along with senior Jenna Sobieski will be coming back "To The Banks" with a new school record to highlight the Scarlet Knights' appearance at the 125th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field this weekend.
The Scarlet Knight quartet finished in fourth place in the Championship of America with a new Rutgers benchmark of 3:48.63. The relay team clocked in five seconds faster than the previous record of 3:53.42 set at the Colonial Relays in 2014 by Asha Ruth, Gabrielle Farquharson, Ekene Ugboaja and Nicole Nicholas.
Rutgers also garnered a first place result in the college high jump. The 2019 Metropolitan Indoor and Outdoor Champion, sophomore Courteney Campbell went over the bar at a height of 1.67m (5' 5.75") to take the title.
Sobieksi and Richards, who helped set the sprint medley relay record, also raced with the 4x800m relay team joining freshmen Mackenzie Prezume and Brooke Riedy for sixth place with RU's top time of the season of 8:46.80
Richards also had a notable individual result. The Scarlet Knight freshman, who entered Penn Relays at number two in the nation in the 400m hurdles, raced to a runner-up time in 57.78 in the event.
Senior Oniesha Clarke qualified for the 100m championship. After qualifying with a season best time of 11.76 and finishing second in her opening heat, she finished seventh in the finals in a time of 11.89.
Rutgers also had two top eight finishes in the jumps. Redshirt junior Rhonda Rogombe leapt to a height of 1.74m (5' 8.5") for fourth in the high jump, while Clarke reached a distance of 5.70m (18' 8.5") in the long jump.
