Huang Scores 9.900 on Floor Exercise at NCAA Regionals

Sophomore ties school record at NCAA level

ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore Belle Huang earned a 9.900 on floor exercise Friday at NCAA Regionals hosted by the University of Georgia. The mark tied the Rutgers gymnastics individual record on any event at the NCAA level previously achieved by Courtney Turner, also on floor exercise, in 2002. Huang finished tied for third among 26 competitors in the session that also included No. 8 Georgia, No. 9 Kentucky, No. 19 Missouri and No. 22 Iowa State. Overall, Huang tied for fifth out of 53 in the Athens Regional.

"I think Belle had a fantastic performance," head coach Umme Salim-Beasley said. "It was probably one of the best routines she had all year. She went out and had a clean routine and really enjoyed it. We were excited because 9.900 was one of the top scores given today and she received it from all four judges."

"I thought it went well today," Huang said. "It was great to represent Rutgers out there."

Huang reached 9.900 on floor exercise for the fourth time this season, ending her campaign with a 9.800 or better in nine-straight outings. She notched a 9.825 on the event last season as a freshman at NCAA Regionals.

This was the ninth consecutive year the Scarlet Knights had representation at NCAA Regionals.
