COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 7, 2019) – Rutgers softball (17-19, 1-8) dropped the rubber game of a three-game set at Ohio State (23-11, 7-2), 8-0, in five innings on Sunday afternoon at Buckeye Field.
QUICK PITCH
- After breaking out for 12 hits on Saturday, the Rutgers bats were quieted in the series finale facing Big Ten batting average against leader Morgan Ray. The Scarlet Knights managed two hits, a walk and two hit by pitches, as the Buckeye hitters produced three home runs to account for all of their runs.

THE RUNDOWN
- Rutgers freshman starter Corah Price retired four in a row into the third inning before the Buckeye bats broke out in a big way. With the bases loaded and two outs, Ashley Prange lifted a high grand slam that just scooted inside the left field foul pole by inches for the 4-0 lead on one swing.
- OSU added two-run home runs in each the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings against Rutgers relief pitching, with the latter ending the game on the eight-run rule.
KNIGHT NOTES
- Hughes extended her reached-base safely streak to nine straight games, her second streak of that length this season.
- Iliopoulos has a three-game hitting streak, hitting safely in all the Ohio State contests over the weekend.
