Shank To Assist USA Basketball's U19 & Pan Am Staffs

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball coordinator of operations/video coordinator Brian Shank is heading out to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado as a member of Team USA's support staff as trials take place for the U19 and Pan American women's national teams.
 
Shank will assist the U19 staff of head coach Jeff Walz (Louisville), Natasha Adair (Delaware) and Cori Close (UCLA), as well as the Pan American staff of head coach Suzy Merchant (Michigan State) and assistants Felisha Legette-Jack (Buffalo) and Vic Schaefer (Mississippi State).
 
During his stint at the USOT, Shank will assist with the operations, video, equipment and on-court skills instructions for both teams.
 
This will be Shank's second time working with USA Basketball at the USOT having worked with the U23 National Team tryouts and training camp in 2017 where he assisted with operations in selecting the team that represented the United States at the inaugural Four National Tournament in Japan.
 
Shank is entering his fourth season on the Rutgers women's basketball staff as the coordinator of operations/video coordinator. He was elevated to a full-time staff member as serving two years as a student manager as an undergraduate, including serving as head manager for the 2015-16 season
 
A native of Somerset, New Jersey, Shank graduated from Rutgers in 2016 with a degree in exercise science with a concentration in sports management. Shank's mother, Kathleen, was an assistant women's basketball coach at Rutgers and is currently a Senior Academic Advisor with Rutgers Athletics Academic Support, while his aunt, Theresa Grentz, was the Scarlet Knight head coach from 1976-95, guiding Rutgers to a 434-150 record, nine NCAA Tournaments and four Atlantic 10 Tournament crowns during her time "On The Banks". Additionally, his brother Brendan is a rising sophomore long snapper with the Rutgers football program.
