JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Rutgers women's track and field's
Reanda Richards is Austin bound. The freshman Scarlet Knight qualified for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Austin, Texas after winning the East Region quarterfinal in the 400m hurdles with the nation's second fastest time this season.
The first-year Scarlet Knight finished at the top the results with a new PR of 56.31, resetting her previous best of 57.21 captured at the Florida Relays. The time is the second fastest in Rutgers history behind Lori McCauley's benchmark and then-American record of 55.69 set the National Sports Festival in 1982.
The Roseland, New Jersey native's time is also the second fastest in the nation with the NCAA West Preliminaries 400m hurdles being contested later this evening. Her time sits right behind Ranae McKenzie of Kansas State who raced to a time of 56.11 at the Michael Johnson invitational in mid-April.
The 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas on June 5-8.
