PISCATAWAY – Six Rutgers University student-athletes have been named 2018-19 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division I All-America Scholars. Graduate student
Ashleigh Greenham, rising seniors Anna Cortes and
Carrie-Ann Lee, rising juniors
Harriet Allsebrook and
Lori Char, and rising sophomore
Maeve Rossi all earned the prestigious honor.
"We are proud to have six All-America scholars this year," said head coach
Kari Williams. "Our student-athletes have committed themselves to academic excellence, while continuing to make our program the most competitive it has ever been. Our success on the golf course and in the classroom would not be possible without the work of our support staff and together, we celebrate this achievement with our six honorees."
Five recipients are repeat honorees, including Greenham and Cortes, who both earned their third selection. Under Williams' leadership, the Scarlet Knights have accumulated 23 All-America Scholar awards since 2015.
Women's golf earned the Top Team Grade Point Average at the RAwards in May. The team, which had six student-athletes earn Big Ten All-Academic honors this spring, maintained a 3.781 team grade point average to lead all Rutgers programs in the classroom for the fourth consecutive year. With a perfect 1,000 multi-year rate for the past six years, women's golf was one of nine RU programs to receive public recognition from the NCAA for its most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score. It signaled the seventh-straight year, and the eighth time overall, that women's golf was recognized by the NCAA for its academic progress.
The All-America Scholar awards help to highlight another successful campaign under Williams. The team concluded its season ranked 84th in the nation with a 300.07 scoring average to establish a new program record. The Scarlet Knights accumulated a school-record 274 birdies in the process.
