Women's Basketball Releases 2019-20 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The 2019-20 Rutgers women's basketball schedule has been unveiled with the Scarlet Knights set for a 16-game home slate, welcoming nine Big Ten opponents as well as a pair of nonconference league champions.

C. Vivian Stringer embarks on her 49th season in coaching and is coming off a season in which she became the sixth coach in NCAA women's basketball history to surpass the 1,000-career victory milestone. Entering her 25th season "On The Banks", Stringer is one victory shy of capturing her 500th win at the helm of the Scarlet Knight program.

Rutgers returns eight Scarlet Knights from last year's squad that captured its most successful Big Ten season to date and danced its way to an at-large NCAA Tournament Bid. The Scarlet Knights played to a 22-10 overall mark and a third-place regular season finish in the Big Ten with a 13-5 conference mark. RU reached the Big Ten semifinals for the first time since joining the league in 2014 and ranked as high as No. 14 in the Associated Press and No. 18 in the ESPN/USA Today Polls.

The Scarlet Knight returnees including Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection and redshirt junior guard Arella Guirantes, who poured in 12.1 points a year ago. Additionally, RU welcomes back two-time Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree Khadaizha Sanders from injury and add five new faces to the squad in USA Basketball product Maori Davenport, First Team USA Today High School All-USA Alabama Team selection Joiya Maddox, graduate student transfer Danielle Migliorie and Baylor transfer Alexis Morris, who will be eligible to suit up in January.

The 2019-20 schedule tips off with Rutgers traveling to the home state of sophomore guard Zipporah Broughton, freshman center Maori and freshman guard Joiya Maddox to face South Alabama (Nov. 5). The Scarlet Knights return to the RAC for a three game homestand with Coppin State (Nov. 9), Niagara (Nov. 13) and Harvard (Nov. 17). November closes out with a road date at LSU (Nov. 24) and the Junkanoo Jam where RU will open tournament play with Vanderbilt and face either Georgia Tech or Seton Hall in game two during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Five of the Scarlet Knights' games in December will be played on the hardwood of the RAC. First up is Virginia (Dec. 5) in the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge with the nonconference schedule rounding out with CAA Champion Towson (Dec. 8), SWAC Champion Southern (Dec. 12) and Marshall (Dec. 15). The Big Ten slate kicks off with a road trip to Wisconsin (Dec. 28) and Indiana (Dec. 31) will serve as the Big Ten home opener on New Year's Eve.

January starts off with a pair of road games at Purdue (Jan. 5) and Illinois (Jan. 9) before trading home and away dates over the next seven game leading into February. During the first month of 2020, RU will welcome Nebraska (Jan. 12), Michigan State (Jan. 20) and wrap up the season series with Illinois (Jan. 30). Road dates include Penn State (Jan. 16) and Michigan (Jan. 26).

February begins with a Super Bowl Sunday game at Minnesota (Feb.2) and a home date with Penn State (Feb. 6) before heading back out on the road for the three of the next four games. The Scarlet Knights head to Maryland (Feb. 9) and Michigan (Feb. 13), with a home game against Michigan (Feb. 16) before back on the trail at Northwestern (Feb. 19).

The regular season closes out with three-straight home games with Rutgers hosting Ohio State (Feb. 22), Wisconsin (Feb. 27) and Iowa (Mar. 1) on Senior Knight.

The Big Ten Tournament returns to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 4-8.
