PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers track and field All-American Reanda Richards will be representing her home country of Saint Kitts and Nevis at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. The rising sophomore Scarlet Knight will compete in the 400m hurdles semifinals on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 4:20 p.m. The finals will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 6:20 p.m.
 
The Big Ten Track Athlete and Freshman of the Year capped off her freshman season at Rutgers with a fourth place performance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 400m hurdles and became the first Rutgers women's track & field athlete since 2016 to earn First Team All-America honors.

A current resident of Roseland, New Jersey, Richards reached the national championship stage bringing home the NCAA East Regional title with a PR of 56.31. The time stood as the second fastest 400m hurdles time in the nation entering the NCAA Championships.

Also this past May, Richards became the second Scarlet Knight in women's track & field history to win gold at a Big Ten Championship. She won her opening 400m hurdle heat at the conference championships, placing second overall during preliminary racing, before powering to a first place victory in the finals with a .01 second margin of victory.

Altogether, Richards won six 400m hurdle titles for the Scarlet Knights during the 2019 outdoor season. In addition to NCAA Prelim and Big Ten titles, Richards also captured the top times at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championship, Florida Relays, Virginia Challenge and USF Bulls Invitational.
 
Richards has represented St. Kitts and Nevis at numerous meets prior to this week's Pan Am Games including the CUT Games, Carifta Games and Pan Am Youth Championships. At the 2018 Carifta Games, she won bronze in the U18 400m hurdles.
