Football Partners With Oura Ring

Wearable health technology aids in sleep and recovery to promote optimal performance

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football has partnered with Oura Health to provide the Scarlet Knights with its wearable smart ring that measures sleep and recovery data to provide insights for the optimal athletic performance. Rutgers will become one of the first in college football to adopt the state-of-the-art health technology for its entire program.

"This technology is a great tool in our approach to player development, and level of care we strive to provide our student-athletes," said head coach Greg Schiano. "We talk about the importance of sleep and recovery for practice and competition as well as its impact in the classroom. Oura Ring allows us to show the players how they can improve their sleep and overall performance in a data-driven way."

Oura Ring BlackThe Oura Ring takes biometric data about sleep, activity and recovery habits and provides an overview of the wearer's health and performance readiness. With the measurements provided, the Rutgers football medical staff is able to evaluate and quantify how an individual's body recovers and use that data to inform future training activities. The Oura Ring tracks all stages of sleep by measuring key physiological signals such as temperature, heart rate, heart rate variability and respiratory rate.

"We are thrilled Rutgers Football has chosen Oura to support the Scarlet Knights' recovery and overall health," said Harpreet Singh Rai, CEO, Oura Health. "Oura provides meaningful data about sleep and activity, which play a key role in performance. We're glad we can support players in an effort to stay safe and healthy for the rest of the season."
