ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference recognized a record 123 Rutgers student-athletes on the Fall 2020 Academic All-Big Ten list, it was announced Thursday. The 123 Scarlet Knight selections are a fall school record since joining the Big Ten for the 2014-15 academic season, surpassing the 100 from the Fall of 2019.
 
Seven different programs were represented on the list, including 46 from football, 19 from field hockey, 17 from women's soccer, 15 from men's soccer, 13 from women's cross country, eight from men's cross country and five from volleyball.
 
Tyreek Maddox-Williams (football) earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for the fourth time, while 22 other Scarlet Knights are making their third-straight appearance on the prestigious list. Maddie Brant (women's soccer) represented RU with a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester.
 
"As most of our student-athletes continue their studies remotely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, I could not be more proud of their efforts in the classroom," said Director of Athletics Pat Hobbs. "This semester's record number of selections is a testament to their commitment to academic excellence during these unprecedented times. We celebrate their successes in the classroom and look forward to seeing all of our Scarlet Knights return to competition soon."
 
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports, who have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
