PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Thirteen former Rutgers football players took the field during Week 16 of the 2020 NFL season. Gus Edwards produced a season-high 122 all-purpose yards for Baltimore in their win over the New York Giants. On defense, Sebastian Joseph-Day logged his first sack of the season at Seattle on Sunday.

Giants Extend Logan Ryan
The New York Giants announced on Christmas Day they had signed standout Logan Ryan to a three-year extension. The deal is worth $31 million, including $20 million guaranteed.
Ryan has shined in his first season with the Giants. Through 16 games, Ryan has produced 91 tackles, nine passes defended, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and an interception. In eight seasons, Ryan has secured 18 interceptions, 87 passed defended and 585 tackles.

Through 16 weeks, four former Rutgers football players have combined for 12 touchdowns in 2020. The 12 touchdowns are the most for the Scarlet Knights since the 2017 season, when five players combined for 19 scores.

Playoff Picture
With one week left in the 2020 NFL regular season, Several Scarlet Knights are in line to compete in the playoffs. There are 14 playoff spots this year, with the No. 1 seeds in each conference earning a first-week bye. Standings below reflect if the season were to end today and are not final. Michael Burton (New Orleans), Tyler Kroft (Buffalo) and Willington Previlon (Green Bay/Practice Squad) have all clinched playoff berths over the past several weeks.
In the AFC, Gus Edwards and Baltimore are currently penciled in as the No. 6 seed and will clinch a playoff spot with a win over Cincinnati on Sunday. Kemoko Turay and Indianapolis can secure a playoff spot with a win and a loss by Tennessee. Andre Patton, who is a member of Miami’s practice squad, will also advance with a win.
In the NFC, Sebastian Joseph-Day and the Los Angeles Rams can lock up a playoff berth with a win over Arizona. Logan Ryan and the New York Giants can win the NFC East and the No. 4 seed with a win and a loss by Washington.
