PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Four Rutgers University student-athletes have been named 2019-20 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division I All-America Scholars, announced this week by the organization. Senior Carrie-Ann Lee, junior Eun Won Park, sophomore Maeve Rossi and freshman Anna-Maria Diederichs all earned the prestigious honor.
This is Lee's third consecutive appearance on the prestigious list, while Rossi earns recognition for her academic success by the WGCA for the second time. Under head coach Kari Williams' leadership, the Scarlet Knights have accumulated 27 All-America Scholar awards since 2015. Lee (Supply Chain Managment) and Park (Statistics) earned perfect 4.0s this spring, as all four honorees made the Dean's List.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. The WGCA, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches.
Four student-athletes earned 2020 Academic All-Big Ten honors this spring – Lee, Rossi, senior Ana Cortes and junior Lori Char – as the team produced a 3.94 grade point average to close out the spring semester. With a perfect 1,000 multi-year rate for the past seven years, women's golf was one of seven RU programs to receive public recognition from the NCAA for its most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score. It signaled the eighth-straight year, and the eighth time overall, that women's golf was recognized by the NCAA for its academic progress.
The All-America Scholar awards help to highlight another successful campaign under Williams, as the team produced its second-lowest team scoring average in program history at 300.85 before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
