LDSP Hosts Successful Virtual Career Days

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers Office of Leadership Development and Strategic Partnerships (LDSP) hosted virtual career days on July 22 and July 29 for football student-athletes. Twenty-five panelists from seven different industries spoke during the two-day event, which included former football letterwinners and other professionals from within the Rutgers network.
Representing a number of different disciplines, football letterwinners who took part in the virtual career days included Ron Allen, Darrin Czellecz, Manny Collins, Nate Harris, Kevin Malast, Keith Price, Rashied Richardson, Curtis Stephens, Harry Swayne, Tom Tarver, Tim Wright Tom Wright and Mike Ziarnowski.

Subjects covered during the event included Business and Finance, Coaching and School Administration, Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement, Entrepreneurship, Industrials and Supply Chain, Information Technology and Sports Marketing. Participants were able to engage with several presenters from each focus and ask questions during the hour-long sessions.
"At the core of LDSP and the Varsity R Letterwinners Association missions is the principle of holistically developing and supporting student-athletes now and forever," said Dr. Carissa Conroy, Executive Director for the Varsity R Letterwinners Association Director of Student-Athlete Engagement. "To accomplish this at the foundational level, we want to engage, educate, and expose our current student-athletes to the endless opportunities available to them after their playing days are over through our vast Rutgers network."
LDSP provides a programmatic and curricular vehicle that supports the holistic development of Rutgers Athletics varsity student-athletes, coaches and staff. In turn, LDSP is committed to the personal enhancement, community engagement, career and leadership development of all Scarlet Knights student-athletes during college and in life after sport via continual alumni engagement.
"I'd like to personally thank each panelist for their time and commitment," Conroy said. "With our panelists' willingness to give back, we are able to continue to positively influence the lives of student-athletes in their relentless pursuit of career, academics, and personal success in college and in life after sport."
