Scarlet Knights slated to play 10 conference games starting Sept. 5
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football is slated to play 10 conference games starting Sept. 5 versus Nebraska at SHI Stadium in the revised Big Ten schedule released Wednesday. The league had previously announced on July 6 that if the Big Ten Conference is able to participate in fall sports based on medical advice, it will move to conference-only schedules.
The Scarlet Knights are lined up to play the other six members of the East Division, plus four in the West Division. In addition to the season opener, the other four home games at SHI Stadium are against Michigan (Sept. 26), Penn State (Oct. 3), Indiana (Oct. 31) and Illinois (Nov. 7).
Rutgers University announced July 20 that all Rutgers Athletics venues will operate in accordance with the executive orders issued by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy limiting outdoor gatherings to 500 people or fewer. All safety precautions will be in place for those individuals who will be in attendance. Athletic department officials will continue to monitor any changes to public health guidelines and adjust accordingly.
RU is booked for five road games: at Ohio State (Sept. 12), Maryland (Sept. 19), Purdue (Oct. 17), Michigan State (Oct. 24) and Wisconsin (Nov. 21).
The Scarlet Knights' schedule includes three open weeks, Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Nov. 28. Game times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
