Lynch Tabbed Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior back Allison Lynch of Rutgers women's soccer was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Lynch scored the gamewinner in the 2-1 victory at Minnesota, contributing to a 2-0 weekend on the road for the Scarlet Knights. It marked her second goal of her career and first ever gamewinner, both being scored this season.
The back aided Rutgers in holding both Minnesota and Ohio State to single-digit shots on goal, as the Scarlet Knights have outscored opponents 36-9 this year. Lynch has started 10 of 11 matches helping push RU to a record of 9-2 overall and 4-0 in Big Ten play.
The Bridgewater, New Jersey, native picks up the second Big Ten weekly honor of her career. She claimed her first defensive accolades in 2020-21. Earning the honor for the third consecutive week for RU, Lynch is the third Scarlet Knight tabbed as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week this season.
Overall, Rutgers has claimed seven conference weekly awards this season. The honors have included Co-Offensive honors for Frankie Tagliferri (8/31), Defensive accolades for Provenzano (9/7 & 9/28) and Becci Fluchel (9/21), and Freshman recognition for Riley Tiernan (8/31) and Kassidy Banks (9/21).
