HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Rutgers women's golf closed out the second round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Saturday in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Senior
Maeve Rossi and rookie
Lucrezia Rossettin produced one-over-par scorecards to highlight action for the Scarlet Knights during the second day of play.
"The golf course played much differently today when the wind picked up," said head coach
Kari Williams. "The team managed themselves well through the changing conditions and posted scores that helped us move up the leaderboard a bit."
With clear skies, temperatures in the low 70s and 15-mile-per-hour wind gusts, RU is tied for seventh with its 13-over-par 589 (293-296). Eastern Tennessee State leads the field with its nine-under-par 567 (271-296), followed by Cal Poly (-5) and host Denver (-3). ETSU's Tereza Melecka and San Francisco's Toni Sottile are atop the leaderboard at five under.
Rossi moved up nine spots and is tied for 24th with her two-over-par 146 (73-73). The captain rolled in three birdies on holes one, six and 10 during her impressive second round.
"I scrambled well today around the course and hit a few recovery shots that I was really happy with," Rossi said. "I gave myself some close looks at birdie and felt confident out there, and we're all excited to come back out tomorrow to finish our fall season strong."
Rossi is tied with junior
Leigha Devine, who owns a two-over-par 146 (71-75). Rossettin also produced a one-over-par 73 in the second round and is tied for 37th with a four-over-par 148 (75-73), while sophomore
