Wide receiver with 157 career receptions, seventh-most in program history
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football wide receiver Bo Melton accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl. The game is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama.
The Reese's Senior Bowl is the nation's most prestigious college all-star game, as it annually serves as the first step of the NFL Draft process. Fourteen Scarlet Knights have been selected in the past, including Kemoko Turay (2018), Leonte Carroo (2016), Khaseem Greene (2013), Steve Beauharnais (2013), Joe Lefeged (2011), Devin McCourty (2010), Clark Harris (2007), Brian Leonard (2007), L.J. Smith (2003), Mike McMahon (2001), Robert Barr (1996), Bruce Presley (1996), Steve Simms (1962) and Alex Kroll (1962).
A member of the Biletnikoff Award watch list, Melton ranks seventh in the school record book with 157 career catches and is one away from tying Jim Guarantano (1989-92) for sixth. He is also one of just 16 players in program history to reach 1,500 receiving yards, currently 12th at 1,910 and 21 away from matching his position coach, Tiquan Underwood (2005-08), for 10th place. That includes five 100-yard games and 11 touchdowns.
The Mays Landing, New Jersey, native has seven games in 2021 with at least five receptions, posting a career-high eight versus Syracuse and Northwestern. Melton, a team captain, earned honorable mention All-Big Ten last season.
Coming off a 38-3 victory at Indiana, the Scarlet Knights (5-5, 2-5) are back on the road this weekend to face Penn State (6-4, 3-4). Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at noon on Big Ten Network and the RWJBarnabas Health Rutgers Sports Network.
