Men’s Lacrosse Unveils 2022 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2022 campaign. Following a historic season for the program that saw the Scarlet Knights finish as NCAA Tournament Quarterfinalists after capturing their first NCAA Tournament victory since 1990, the team unveiled the slate for the eagerly anticipated 2022 campaign that will begin on February 5.

The Scarlet Knights will play a 14-game slate. The schedule starts with nine nonconference games, as RU will face LIU, Marist, St. John's, Army, Loyola, Stony Brook, Princeton, Lafayette and Hofstra. Rutgers will have four of those games at home, hosting LIU, Marist, Army and Lafayette.

In Big Ten play, RU will have three home games and two road games this season. The Scarlet Knights welcome Ohio State and Johns Hopkins to open the conference schedule and then finish by hosting Penn State for Senior Day. In Big Ten play, Rutgers travels to Maryland and Michigan.

The schedule includes three games against teams ranked in the final USILA poll last season (Maryland, Loyola and Johns Hopkins) as well as four games against teams that were receiving votes (Michigan, Hofstra, Penn State and Ohio State). Both Loyola and Maryland joined RU in the NCAA Tournament as Quarterfinalists. Following last season's conference only schedule, the team will return to a regular non-conference slate this season.

Following two scrimmages in January (Jan. 22 hosting Monmouth and Jan. 29 at UMass), the team begins regular season competition on February 5 by hosting LIU. After a midweek contest against Marist (Wednesday, Feb. 9), the team then plays on five consecutive Saturdays, four of them on the road. RU travels to St. John's (Feb. 12), hosts Army (Feb. 19), then returns to road competition against Loyola (Feb. 26), Stony Brook (March 5) and Princeton (March 12) consecutively.

The team's final midweek game comes on Tuesday, March 15, hosting Lafayette. That weekend, RU travels to Hofstra (Saturday, March 19) to conclude nonconference play. The next five weeks compose the Big Ten schedule, with RU hosting Ohio State (Sunday, March 27) and Johns Hopkins (Sunday, April 3) to start. After road trips to Maryland (Sunday, April 10) and Michigan (Sunday, April 17), the Scarlet Knights host Penn State (Sunday, April 24) to conclude the regular season.

The Big Ten Tournament will begin on the weekend on April 30. With all six teams qualifying for the Big Ten Tournament, the top two teams in the final league standing will earn a bye into the semifinals with the teams that finish third through sixth playing quarterfinal games. The number three and four seeds in the tournament will host those quarterfinal games. The semifinals and championship game will be hosted May 5-7 at the University of Maryland.

With the schedule now official, tickets for home games are now on sale. Season tickets are available for $50, while single game tickets are available for $10. Tickets for groups of 20 or more are available for $5 per ticket. For ticket information, please visit here or contact the ticket office at 866-445-4678.
