Wrestling Rankings Update: Week 5

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Matching its best start in program history at 9-0, Rutgers wrestling moved to No. 12 in the latest NWCA Coaches Poll after the fifth week of the 2021-22 season. The Scarlet Knights remained No. 12 by Intermat, are No. 13 by WIN Magazine and No. 15 by FloWrestling.
With Robert Kanniard (157) back into Intermat's rankings, nine out of 10 weights are ranked for RU after week five, which includes five who appear in both polls from Intermat and FloWrestling.
With undefeated records, Sebastian Rivera (141) and John Poznanski (184) continue to hold top-five rankings heading into the weekend. Rivera is as high as No. 3 (FloWrestling, The Open Mat and WIN Magazine), while Poznanski is the consensus No. 5 wrestler in the country at his weight. Sammy Alvarez (133) and Jackson Turley (174) are also No. 10 in their respective weights by WIN Magazine.
Greg Bulsak (197) is also ranked by both Intermat and FloWrestling, while Kanniard, Dylan Shawver (125), Michael VanBrill (149) and Boone McDermott (HWT) also appear in Intermat's rankings. VanBrill made the biggest jump to No. 21 at 149 pounds and Kanniard is No. 32 at 157 pounds, his first appearance in the rankings since week one.
Rutgers hosts Army on Friday for a 7 p.m. ET dual at Jersey Mike's Arena.
