GREENSBORO, Ga. – Sophomore Anna-Maria Diederichs carded a top-15 finish as Rutgers women's golf closed out play at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational on Sunday in Greensboro, Georgia. Sophomore Leigha Devine and freshman Rikke Nordvik joined Diederichs within the top 30, as the Scarlet Knights tied for ninth as a team with a 929 (305-319-305) at the Great Waters at Reynolds course.
North Florida captured the team title with a 34-over-par 898 (302-305-291), followed by Old Dominion (900: 298-305-297) and Mercer (902: 297-311-294). Mercer's Payton Schanen held on for the individual title with her one-over-par 217 (70-73-74).
"We made a few adjustments and had a goal to commit to our shots and course strategies today," said head coach Kari Williams. "We saw some better scores and I was pleased to see Rikke bounce back with more consistent play. Anna-Maria put together a nice round and Leigha played very consistently this weekend. We still left some shots out on the course and have some areas to improve on before our next event."
Diederichs tied for 11th in the 88-player field with her nine-over-par 225 (74-77-74) and finished her three rounds with seven birdies and 35 pars. Diederichs added a two-over-par 74 on Sunday in the final round, which included birdies on holes two, four and eight. Competing as an individual, Devine finished with a three-round total of 231 (77-78-76) to tie for 28th with Nordvik (231: 76-80-75). Devine tied for the most pars in the field with 40.
Graduate student Manon Tounalom (235: 77-81-77), junior Maeve Rossi (240: 78-81-81) and sophomore Sun Hwang (244: 83-82-79) rounded out the team scorecard tied for 40th, 57th and 74th, respectively.
Rutgers returns to action from March 8-9 at the River Landing Classic in Wallace, North Carolina.
