Feb 04 | Women's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse announced its 2021 regular season schedule. The 12-game, Big Ten Conference-only slate features six home games and six on the road, as the Scarlet Knights open their season on Sunday, Feb. 14 at No. 21 Penn State. RU is scheduled to face four ranked foes eight times during the spring, which includes matchups with preseason No. 5 Northwestern, No. 7 Maryland, No. 9 Michigan and the No. 21 Nittany Lions.
All dates are subject to change, with times and television selections to be released at a later date. The program's full schedule can be found here.
The Scarlet Knights begin the campaign with back-to-back road games at Penn State (Feb. 14) and Johns Hopkins (Feb. 21), followed by a two-game home series with Ohio State on Feb. 26 and Feb. 28. RU will then travel to Ann Arbor for a two-game series at Michigan (March 5 & 7) and close the month with a two-game home series against Northwestern (March 19 & 21).
April features a two-game road trip at Maryland (April 9) and Johns Hopkins (April 11) and finishes with two home games against Penn State (April 16) and the Terrapins (April 18).
Rutgers shined under head coach Melissa Lehman in her first year last spring, as the Scarlet Knights started 2020 4-0 for the first time in 10 years. RU reeled off five victories before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will return eight of its top-11 goal scorers from a year ago.
RU recently moved into its new home at the Gary and Barbara Rodkin Academic Success Center, which houses the program's locker room along with men's lacrosse, women's soccer and men's soccer. Located adjacent to Athlete's Glen on the Busch Campus, the 80,000-square foot facility will be the academic hub for the athletic department and its more than 600 student-athletes.
