Women’s Basketball Books Trip to Paradise Jam in Virgin Islands

Scarlet Knights won the Paradise Jam Reef Division title in 2015

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Rutgers women's basketball will spend Thanksgiving 2021 in the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam from Nov. 25-27 at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center.

The Scarlet Knights will be guaranteed three games at the Paradise Jam against a talented field featuring Arizona, DePaul, Pittsburgh, South Dakota, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt. Northwestern will join Rutgers in the Virgin Islands as representatives from the Big Ten. The full schedule will be announced later.

paradise jam"We wanted to make sure we made up for last year's absence by getting the amazing people of the Virgin Islands something to be excited about for the 22nd year of this event," said Paradise Jam Executive Director Nels Hawkinson. "This field of strong women's programs has everything you want in an elite preseason event, and we're excited to see it translate onto the court. But on top of that, we know the players, coaches, and staff will get just as much excitement by exploring and experiencing the island culture."

The Scarlet Knights won the 2015 Reef Division title at the Paradise Jam with a 3-0 run through Tulane, Virginia, and Green Bay. Rutgers won its last Thanksgiving Week tournament in 2019 at the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas – beating Vanderbilt in the opener before a title win over Georgia Tech.

All games will be streamed live on ESPN3 or ESPN+. The event splits the field into two, four-team tournaments. The champion of each division will be determined by best record, with scoring margin as the tiebreaker.

Fan packages will be sold, giving fans the opportunity to come to the islands and cheer their team on. More information on fan travel will come later. For updates on the tournament, visit paradisejam.com and check out the Paradise Jam on social media @ParadiseJam.
