Â
The Scarlet Knights had an opportunity to convert the blocked kick into points, but a 14-yard touchdown pass from Vedral to tight end

Syracuse had an opportunity to take a lead into the locker room, but kicker Andre Szmyt's 43-yard attempt with nine seconds left in the half went wide left. Vedral took a knee to end a scoreless first half.

RU picked up four first downs on the drive, while Vedral completed seven passes to set Rutgers up for the score.
Â
Syracuse responded on the following possession. Quarterback Tommy DeVito found wide receiver Taj Harris for a 51-yard connection, which was followed by a 24-yard touchdown run from running back Sean Tucker to tie the game 7-7 at the 5:54 mark in the quarter.
Â
The Scarlet Knights closed the quarter with another scoring drive, as Vedral found Haskins for a 30-yard touchdown pass right down the middle of the field. It was a career-long reception for Haskins, as Rutgers took a 14-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
Â
RU held Syracuse off the board in the final 15 minutes, while kicker
Valentino Ambrosio drilled a 27-yard field goal attempt to extend the lead, 17-7, with just over eight minutes to go in the game. Rutgers then forced an Orange punt on the following possession and was able to run off more than four minutes of clock to leave the Carrier Dome with a win.
