PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football earned Big Ten Co-Special Teams Player of the Week for the second-straight Monday with
Aron Cruickshank collecting the honor. The New York native broke free for a 62-yard punt return touchdown in the Scarlet Knights' 45-13 victory over Delaware.
Entering the season with four kickoff return touchdowns, Cruickshank added a punt return score to his ledger to make it five combined career kick returns to the end zone. The NCAA record is eight. The 62-yard run also marked a career-long on a punt return, as it was the 56th non-offensive touchdown for the Scarlet Knights under head coach
Greg Schiano and fifth since 2020.
Cruickshank leads the team with 133.3 all-purpose yards per game, totaling 400 (157 kickoff return, 141 punt return, 72 receiving, 30 rushing) so far in 2021. He is the reigning Big Ten Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year.
Punter
Adam Korsak previously earned Big Ten Co-Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 13. Before that, the Scarlet Knights had not garnered the accolade since 2016.
Rutgers (3-0) travels to No. 19 Michigan (3-0) for a Saturday matchup on ABC. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. The RWJBarnabas Health Rutgers Sports Network has the radio call.
