PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football's
Adam Korsak picked up the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week for the fourth time in his career on Wednesday. The Aussie posted a career-high 49.7 average and net in the win against Temple in earning the national recognition.
Â
Korsak's first punt of the season went 56 yards and landed at the 1-yard line, leading to a safety. He later booted one 67 yards to the 9-yard line, as none of the six attempts had a return in helping the Scarlet Knights establish +25 yards in field position throughout the game.
Â
Korsak is a member of the Ray Guy Award watch list for the fourth-straight year. The two-time team captain has helped Rutgers reset the program record for net punt in each of the three previous seasons, holding three of the top-five best punting average seasons in program history. Only five of his 208 career attempts (2.4 percent) have bounced for a touchback, with 78 pinned inside the 20.
Â
The Scarlet Knights head to the road for the first time Saturday to face Syracuse inside the Carrier Dome. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on ACC Network. Listen to the radio call on the RWJBarnabas Health Rutgers Sports Network.
