Gymnastics Records Five Top Three Finishes in Tri Meet at Kent State

KENT, OHIO – Rutgers gymnastics began its weekend on the road in a tri meet at Kent State on Friday evening. The Scarlet Knights registered a team score of 195.175, finishing second in the tri meet in front of Cornell (191.400). Kent State topped the meet with a total score of 195.550. The win over Cornell marks Rutgers' fourth victory of the season.
Rutgers registered five Top 3 finishes in the tri meet, as junior Hannah Joyner led the way with three. She finished third in the all-around (38.000), as well as second on bars (9.825) and beam (9.800). Joyner has earned a total of eight podium finishes across four meets on the season.
Graduate Belle Huang and sophomore Emily Leese tied for first on vault with identical marks of 9.875. It marked a career high for both Scarlet Knights in the event. Huang posted a career high in an event for the third straight week, having posted career bests on floor across the last two outings. Leese also posted a career high on vault, having scored a 9.825 or higher in the event for four consecutive meets this season.
The Scarlet Knights posted a team season high on bars led by Joyner with a season-high 9.825. Freshman Mya Pringle, sophomore Avery Balser, and sophomore Calah Newman each posted a score of 9.775. It marked a career best for Newman, as well as a season high for Balser.Junior Jordyn Zieden-Weber entered the lineup for the second straight meet, while freshman Brayden Battavio made her Scarlet Knight debut in the event.
Freshman Anna Pagliaro made her debut on floor for the Scarlet Knights. She recorded a season-best 9.750 on vault for the third time in her first four collegiate meets. A total of seven newcomers have made their debuts for Rutgers this season across all four events.

Rutgers remains on the road with a trip to No. 22 Ohio State on Sunday, January 30. The meet is set for a 5 p.m. ET start live on the Big Ten Network.
