MINNEAPOLISĀ āĀ Rutgers football (4-4, 1-4) fell toĀ Minnesota (5-3, 2-3) in a Big Ten road contestĀ on Saturday at Huntington Bank Stadium.
On offense, QB Gavin WimsattĀ earned his second start of the season, while WR Sean RyanĀ added four catches for 46Ā yards. DB Desmond Igbinosun (14), LB Deion Jennings (13) and DB Avery Young (13) posted career highs in tackles, with DL Aaron Lewis (10) also reaching double digits.

WimsattĀ led the RU offense into Minnesota territory on the first drive of the game with first-down passes to Ryan and TE Johnny Langan. The drive ended with P Adam Korsak pinning the Golden Gophers inside the 1-yard line. Korsak later added a 77-yard punt, a stadium record and the Aussie's third career attempt of over 70 yards.
MinnesotaĀ got on the board on itsĀ first drive of the afternoon, taking a 7-0 lead on a two-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter. The Gophers added another score on a one-yard touchdown rush with 5:14 left in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead at halftime.
The Scarlet Knight defense was able to keep the Gophers off the scoreboard in the third quarter, but Minnesota addedĀ 17 points in the fourth quarter to close out the victory.Ā
