PISCATAWAY, N.J. – For the second-straight week and eighth time in his career, P
Adam Korsak was named Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week, the Augusta Sports Council announced Tuesday. Korsak has represented Rutgers football on the award's Ray's 8 list following 6-of-8 games in 2022.
Against Minnesota, the Aussie netted 51.2 yards on five attempts. That included downing his first kick at the 1-yard line and later drilling one 77 yards to the 14-yard line. The latter marked the longest punt in Huntington Bank Stadium history, tied for the third-longest in program history and Korsak's third career boot of over 70 yards.
The Golden Gophers were held to zero return yards. Korsak and the punt unit have limited opponents to -8 return yards on 41 attempts this season, with no positive returns against, to rank second nationally in punt return defense. In addition, the Scarlet Knights are fourth nationally with a net punt average of 43.6 yards.
A three-time captain for the Scarlet Knights, Korsak has downed 133 (42.2 percent) career punts inside the 20 with 126 fair catches, no blocks and no touchdowns returned on 315 attempts.
Korsak also claimed the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week last week following his performance in the win over Indiana, previously taking home the honors on Oct. 12, 2021, Sept. 13, 2021, Sept. 8, 2021, Oct. 15, 2019, Sept. 24, 2019 and Sept. 10, 2019.
Rutgers is back in action Saturday at SHI Stadium versus No. 4 Michigan, presented by Horizon. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network and the RWJBarnabas Health Rutgers Sports Network.
