Rowing Announces 2023 Schedule

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers rowing has released its exhibition and competition schedule for the 2023 spring season.
 
The Scarlet Knights will row in one scrimmage to start off the spring slate on March 18 at home against Temple on the Raritan River.
 
The official 2023 season opens with back-to-back weekends on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, the site of the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Championships. The Scarlet Knights will take on boats from Harvard, Iowa, Ohio State, Syracuse, and Yale on Sat., March 25 before returning to the Cooper River on Sat., April 1 for the annual Doc Hosea Invitational.
 
Rutgers enters the third annual Big Ten Invitational on April 7 and 8, held in Sarasota, Florida for the second consecutive year. The Scarlet Knights then tune up for championship season at the Ivy League Invitational on April 15 and 16 on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, New Jersey before heading up to the Women's Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Massachusetts on Sun., April 30.
 
The Big Ten Championships take place in Indianapolis on Sunday, May 14, followed by the NCAA Championships on Friday, May 26 through Sunday, May 28 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
 
Rutgers placed 13th in the nation at the 2022 NCAA Championships, compiling 64 team points at the national regatta behind a ninth-place finish from the Varsity 4  boat and 13th-place results from the Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8. All three of Rutgers' NCAA boats outperformed their seeding heading into the national regatta, which had the Varsity 8 at 16th, and the 2nd Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 at 15th. The Scarlet Knights earned one of 11 at-large bids to the NCAA Championships after a second consecutive third-place performance at the Big Ten Championships in Indianapolis. Rutgers matched its best conference championships finish in third place while earning a program-record six medals, including its first gold with the 2nd Novice 8 winning their race against the Big Ten competition.
