Swimming & Diving Victorious At Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. – The Rutgers women's swimming & diving team wrapped up the weekend with a 168-128 win over Northeastern at Barletta Natatorium on Saturday.
The Scarlet Knights were victorious in 11 of the day's 16 events with the Scarlet Knights going 1-2-3 on 1-meter and in the 200 free while taking the top two spots in 1000 free, 100 and 200 fly and 100 and 200 breast.

The Rutgers swimming & diving team is back in the water next weekend on Friday, Nov. 12 hosting the annual Battle For The Cannon Trophy against in-state rival Princeton at the Rutgers Aquatics Center. Admission is free.

| DIVING |
- Sophomore Giulia Vittorioso opened the meet winning 3-meter with a new PR of 309.08. She topped her previous best of 288.00 set against Purdue last weekend.
- Freshman Sephora Ford also captured a best on 3-meter scoring 267.30.
- The Scarlet Knights went 1-2-3 on 1-meter all with career bests. Sophomore Holly Prasanto won the event with a score of 289.13, the 10th-best performance by a Scarlet Knight in history. It marks the second-straight weekend she has logged a top 10 score having captured the eighth-best score in RU history on 3-meter last weekend against Purdue.
- Vittorioso, meanwhile, was the runner-up on 1-meter with a PR of 285.00. She topped her previous best of 283.75 set during finals at NCAA Zones where she finished ninth.
- Graduate student Jenna Douglass posted a score of 284.10 on 1-meter for a zone qualifying mark and also a new career best. She surpassed her previous high of 274.80 captured against Michigan and Michigan State back on Jan. 23, 2021.
| RELAYS |
- The 200 medley relay squad got the swimming portion of the meet underway taking first place. The quartet of Martyna Piesko, Rachel Kimmel, Sofia Maksimova and Sofia Chichaikina combined for a time of 1:44.56.
| SPRINTS |
- It was another sweep for graduate student Rachel Kimmel in the breaststroke as junior Tina Celik was the runner-up in both events. Kimmel captured the top time of 1:04.12 in the 100 breast with Celik behind in 1:05.54. The graduate student took home the 200 breast in 2:18.00 with over a seven-second margin of victory over her teammate who clocked in at 2:25.06.
- Kimmel also collected a runner-up performance with a time of 2:07.08 in the 200 IM.
- The 200 free marked a 1-2-3 finish for the Scarlet Knights. Senior Sofia Chichaikina led the pack hitting the wall first in 1:51.00 with graduate student Madison Murtagh in second in 1:53.34 and followed by freshman Julia Bartoszewicz in third recording 1:55.18.
- Chichaikina also won the 100 fly in 56.24 with a .02 margin of victory over teammate and Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week Martyna Piesko.
- Freshman Viktoriia Kostromina made it back-to-back days winning the 200 fly. She logged a first-place time of 2:06.61 with classmate Ellie Schinsky taking second in 2:09.13.
- Piesko picked up a victory in the 200 back clocking in with the winning time of 2:01.20.
- Graduate student Alice Scarabelli was the runner-up in the 100 back, .13 seconds behind first place, posting a time of 55.72. Piesko, meanwhile, finished third registering 57.00.
- Rutgers also had other two runner-up performances in the 50 free by Chichaikina in 24.01 and 100 free by Bartoszewicz in 52.66.

- Freshman Grace Weaver earned her first Scarlet Knight victory hitting the wall first in the 1000 free. Weaver posted a time of 10:40.15 with senior Yael Weber taking second in 10:55.38.
- Murtagh wrapped her weekend with a victory in the 500 free coming with nearly a four-second victory in 4:58.16.
