Braswell Selected for Hula Bowl

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football DB Christian Braswell is set to compete at the Hula Bowl, the all-star game announced Friday. The event is set for Jan. 14, 2023, at UCF FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida, and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

Braswell is the third Scarlet Knight to earn a spot in a postseason showcase so far, joining P Adam Korsak (Senior Bowl) and DB Avery Young (Hula Bowl).

Returning after missing the 2021 season due to injury, Braswell ranked third in the Big Ten with 1.17 passes defended per game. That included team highs with 11 pass breakups and three interceptions. He contributed a pick-six to help seal the victory over Indiana, a career-high four pass breakups at Maryland and was voted honorable mention All-Big Ten.

Previous Rutgers representatives at the Hula Bowl include Isiah Pacheco (2022), Shaun O'Hara (1999), Bryan Fortay (1994), Tyronne Stowe (1987) and "JJ" Jennings (1974).
