Joyner Matches School Record on Beam, Gymnastics Scores Season-High Team Total

PISTCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers gymnastics recorded a season-high 195.950 in its home quad meet on Friday night at Jersey Mike's Arena. The score marked the fifth best score in program history and the fourth best score at home. Junior Hannah Joyner matched her school record on beam with a score of 9.950, finishing first in the event.
The Scarlet Knights recorded six Top 3 finishes in the quad meet. Joyner placed first on beam with her school-record mark of 9.950. Sophomore Avery Balser claimed the bars title with a career-high 9.875 in the event. Graduate Belle Huang finished second on floor (9.900) and second on beam (9.900).
Sophomore Emily Leese finished second on vault with a score of 9.850, while sophomore Calah Newman recorded a season-high of 38.875 in the all-around to finish in third.
Junior Hannah Joyner matched her school-record mark of 9.950 on beam for a first-place finish. Joyner has eclipsed a 9.900 or higher on beam 17 times in her career, the most of any Scarlet Knight gymnast. The captain first set the record of 9.950 in March of 2021.
Joyner's mark helped lift the Scarlet Knights to a season-high team score on beam with a 49.175, a total that ranks sixth in the RU record books. Huang reached a 9.9 for second place in the event. Sophomores Calah Newman (9.825) and Stephanie Zannella (9.825) rounded out the 9.8 or higher results.
The Scarlet Knights recorded a season-high team total on bars with a 48.975. Sophomore Avery Balser led the way with a career-best 9.875. Joyner registered a 9.825 in the event followed by freshman Mya Pringle with a 9.775. Junior Kaitlyn Bertola added a career-high of 9.750, while classmate Jordyn Zieden-Weber contributed a 9.750 as well.
