PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers gymnastics continues to rewrite the record book, recording another Top 10 program score in its tri meet at Jersey Mike's Arena on Friday Night. The Scarlet Knights posted a 195.675, the ninth best overall score and fourth best home score in Rutgers history.
RU finished second in the meet, defeating University of Alaska (191.825). No. 1 Michigan, the reigning NCAA Champions, took first with a 198.525.
Graduate
Belle Huang placed second on floor, recording a career-high 9.975. Junior
Hannah Joyner finished third on beam with a 9.900 and in all-around with a 39.325. Joyner also contributed a 9.950 on floor.
The Scarlet Knights set a new team standard on vault, recording a program-best total of 49.275 in the event. Huang led the way with a career-high 9.900, marking the third event she has eclipsed a 9.9 or higher in her career. Senior
Mia Betancourt followed with her own career best of 9.875, setting a new personal best for the second time this year.
Sophomore
Emily Leese added a 9.850, while freshman
Isabella Hughes and Joyner both recorded a 9.825. It marked a new personal best for Hughes in the event. The 49.275 total topped the previous program best of 49.225 set in February 2020.
Rutgers also recorded the second-highest team floor score, posting a 49.350 total in the event. Huang led the way with a career-high 9.975, the second-highest individual score for the program. Joyner followed with a career-high 9.950 of her own, having reached a 9.950 on floor and beam in her career.
Sophomore
Emily Wood recorded a personal-best 9.850 with her routine, while Leese matched her career-best with a 9.850 as well. Sophomores
Calah Newman and
Avery Balser each posted a 9.725 in the event to round out the lineup. The team score moved past the now third-best mark of 49.325 set in 2014, and just shy of the program record of 49.375 set in 2015.

Rutgers is back home at Jersey Mike's Arena for a quad meet on Friday, February 11. The tri meet is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will feature Iowa, Ursinus, and Kent State.
