Scarlet Knights claim four individual event titles in the quad meet

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers gymnastics recorded a 194.975 in its home finale on Friday night at Jersey Mike's Arena. The Scarlet Knights claimed the title in three events and the all-around, finishing second in the quad meet.

The Scarlet Knights captured wins over Brown (192.825) and Southern Connecticut State (187.100). NC State took the top spot in the quad meet (195.700).

Following the final home meet of their careers, Rutgers honored graduate Belle Huang and seniors Mia Betancourt, Kiear Doherty-Herwitz, Abigail Karolewski and Sage Littlejohn in a post-meet Senior Knight ceremony.

TOP 3 EVENT FINISHERS

Rutgers recorded seven top 3 finishes on the night. Betancourt closed out her career at home with a first-place finish on vault, recording a strong 9.850. Junior Hannah Joyner placed first in the all-around (39.225) and on floor (9.925).

Sophomore Avery Balser took the title on bars with a career-best 9.875. Fellow sophomore Calah Newman finished second on beam with a career-high 9.900, second in the all-around 38.650 and second on vault with a 9.800.

CAREER KNIGHTS ON BEAM
Rutgers posted a number of career highs on beam. Sophomore Calah Newman led the way with a career-high 9.900 to finish second in the event. Newman became the fifth gymnast in Rutgers history recorded to have eclipsed a 9.9 on beam.

Junior Hannah Joyner contributed a 9.800, while sophomore Stephanie Zannella posted a 9.775. Freshman Jackie Manifold started the lineup up off with a career-best 9.750 followed by classmate Brayden Battavio with her own career high of 9.775.

Bars: Avery Balser, 9.875, – First Place
Beam: Calah Newman, 9.900 – Second Place
Floor: Hannah Joyner, 9.925 – First Place
