Ball Repeats as Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior Meghan Ball earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second consecutive week, announced Tuesday by the conference. Sharing the award with Maryland's Abby Bosco, Ball combined for 11 draw controls, seven ground balls and five caused turnovers in wins over Monmouth and Villanova.
Ball opened the week with eight draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover in the win over Monmouth. The preseason All-American also added an assist against the Hawks off a caused turnover. Ball followed with five ground balls, four caused turnovers, three ground balls and her first goal of the season against Villanova, helping RU to its first 6-0 start in program history.

In six games, Ball leads the Big Ten with 17 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers and is third with 35 draw controls. Ball has helped the Scarlet Knights to a No. 13 ranking in the Inside Lacrosse/IWLCA Coaches Poll, the team's highest ranking in the poll in program history.
Rutgers travels to No. 18 Temple on Wednesday in Philadelphia. First draw is set for 6 p.m. ET.
