Nordvik Impresses in Final Round of Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio. – Sophomore Rikke Nordvik produced an even scorecard to finish inside the top 20 as Rutgers women's golf closed out action at the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. Nordvik rolled in four birdies to finish with one of the lowest individual 18-hole scores (72) of the final round.

The Scarlet Knights secured their best team scorecard (306) of the tournament to finish ninth in the 10-team field. Host Ohio State won the team title with its 33-over-par 897 (298-307-292), followed by No. 43 Kent State (+48) and No. 23 Illinois (+49). Kent State's Emily Price captured individual honors with her one-under-par 215 (72-75-68).

"Rikke put together a really solid round for us today to lead the team," said head coach Kari Williams. "This course was a good test for us before the Big Ten Championship next week. We have a few days back on campus to work on our short games and get dialed in to finish the season strong."

Nordvik moved up 14 spots on the leaderboard thanks to her even 72 on Saturday, as she produced birdies on holes four, six, 17 and 18. Nordvik tied for 18th in the 61-player field thanks to her three-over-par 75 in the opening round on Friday, also a team-low score during the opening round of action.

"I played smarter out on the course today and was able to manage my game better," Nordvik said. "I made a few bunker saves and putted well in this round. It felt good to end the tournament on a high note."

Senior captain Maeve Rossi also carded a top-20 finish with her tied-for-20 result. Rossi produced a two-over-par 74 during Friday's second round and added a combined for four birdies across three rounds of play. Junior Anna-Maria Diederichs, who withdrew from Friday's second round due to injury, battled back to fire off a five-over-par 77 on Saturday with a birdie on hole No. 14.

Rookie Lucrezia Rossettin (T37), junior Leigha Devine (T47) and junior Nicole Ewing (T50) rounded out the team scorecard. Ewing rolled in a birdie on hole No. 16 to close out play at the Scarlet Course.

Rutgers now heads to the postseason, as it competes at the 2022 Big Ten Championship from April 22-24 in Pittsburgh.
