There are 21 colleges and universities under the Met Basketball Division I umbrella
NEW YORK – Osh Brown of Rutgers women's basketball has been named to the All-Met Third Team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association on Friday. There are 21 colleges and universities under the Met Basketball Division I umbrella.
Brown, who leaves the college game with 1,821 career points, was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention after her graduate season "On the Banks" and recently earned All-Star recognition at the invite-only ProHoops Combine in Minneapolis. Brown maintained and extended her NCAA active career lead in both double-doubles and rebounds this past season as a Scarlet Knight. Twelve double-doubles this winter gave Brown 61 for her career, while her 9.1 rebounds per game ranked fifth in the Big Ten and brings her career rebounding total to 1,389, more than any other active player in the country and No. 27 all-time in the NCAA career rebounds record book.
In Big Ten play this season, Brown rose to the challenge and increased her scoring average to a team-high 12.2 points per game in 17 contests, including 14.7 points per game in three wins as Rutgers finished the regular season with three victories over its final five games. Overall on the season, she added 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while converting on 50 percent of her shots from the field. She led the squad with 30.1 minutes per game.
Brown made a quick impact on her new team on Nov. 26 against DePaul in the Paradise Jam on the Virgin Islands, registering the program's first 20-point, 20-rebound double-double since current WNBA star Betnijah Laney's in 2014 against UNC. It was Brown's first of 10 double-doubles this season, a mark that ranks fourth in the Big Ten.
