
Third Varsity 4 Wins Big Ten Women’s Rowing Boat of the Week

The Rutgers boat defeated a rival from No. 4 Princeton by 32 seconds in its race
ROSEMONT, Ill. – No. 16 Rutgers rowing's Third Varsity 4 has been named the Big Ten Boat of the Week for its performance in the tri-race with No. 1 Texas and No. 4 Princeton on Saturday, April 23.
It marks the first Boat of the Week honor of the season for the Scarlet Knights, and the seventh for the program since its first appearance in the conference's weekly awards in 2018.
In the final race of the day during the tri-meet with No. 1 Texas and No. 4 Princeton, the Third Varsity 4 boat won its race in 7:37.3, beating out a Princeton boat by 32 seconds. The RU boat was coxswained by Alexis Nguyen and rowed by (stroke to bow) Olivia Coffey, Kathryn Conover, Grace Lewis, and Kai Vaarkamp.
The Third Varsity 8 boat and the rest of the Scarlet Knights return to action on Sun., May 1 for the Women's Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Massachusetts for the final event before championship season begins with the Big Ten Championships on May 15.
