PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football is set for five home Big Ten games in 2022, starting Sept. 24 versus Iowa for the "R Community Game," presented by PNC. As part of the "R Community Game," the Scarlet Knights look forward to welcoming and honoring representatives from youth band, youth cheer/spirit, R Heroes, Special Olympics, Rutgers University Dance Marathon (RUDM) and several other area groups.
 
Along Scarlet Knight Way, the Rutgers Boardwalk will feature various food trucks, rides and carnival games, as well as a fire truck, police car, ambulance and more in recognition of "R Community." The Rutgers men's basketball team and national champion Rutgers Spirit Squad will also participate in a pregame autograph session.
 
Giveaways for the "R Community Game" include "Beat Iowa" buttons, shakers and posters at the pregame pep rally. The parade prior to team arrival will feature Special Olympics athletes and youth members as part of Band and Cheer Day.
 
The Rutgers Marching Scarlet Knights will welcome over 750 students from high schools in the tri-state area for a combined mass band performance at halftime. The music theme will be "We R Family," celebrating all Rutgers community members, family, friends and first responders. Also during halftime, the national champion Rutgers Spirit Squad will welcome local youth spirit teams to perform alongside.
 
In addition, RUDM, one of Rutgers' longest-running traditions of service, leadership, community, spirit and pride, will be recognized with a special in-game presentation. RUDM celebrates its 25^th anniversary in 2022-23, building towards the main event Saturday, April 1. The game time against Iowa will be decided during the 12-/6-day selection process, as announced by the Big Ten Conference.
